Dr Leith Stewart is a B.I.F. (born in the fifties) and is married with 3 children, educated in Scotland and at Michaelhouse in Natal.
He obtained a BSC at Natal University in Chemistry and Applied Maths. He studied and obtained his M.B. ChB. At Stellenbosch University and then Orthopaedics at UCT, graduating in 1993. He then studied at Exeter in the UK for 1 year under Dr Graham Gie, doing hip and knee surgery and then did a further stint as a Consultant in Exeter.
He returned to UCT as a part time Consultant in the Knee Clinic at Groote Schuur Hospital. He is now full time in Private Practice in Claremont Clinic for 17 years. He has lectured in the U.K., Europe and India on Knee and Hip surgery. His main interest is in Hip Resurfacing Surgery and bearing surfaces.
He has always been a keen Sportsman, representing South Africa in hockey and Natal in athletics. He cycles and plays old mans hockey.
